This is a 45-60 minute activity.  The students rotate to 4 different stations about every 15 minutes.
Station 1 - Butterfly Origami (supplies needed - scissors, square paper, pipe cleaners
Station 2 - Crane Card 
Station 3 - Japanese Writing (supplies needed - paper and markers)
Station 4 - Japanese Taste Testing (supplies needed - rice, fortune cookies, chopsticks, green tea)
                 NOTE: I have been able to get local Chinese restaurants to donate fortune cookies & chopsticks.  It
                             never hurts to ask.

Japan Booklet Webquest

Use with the "Journey to Japan" webquest.  You could do this activity a whole group, partner activity, or individual depending on your computer situation.  Complete the booklet using the webquest.  I take page 1 and page 2 and copy them back to back and then enlarge it to 11x17.  It makes an accordion booklet just the right size for the project.

Introduction to Japan

PowerPoint demonstration highlighting a short history between Japan and the US prior to and during WWII.  Also it introduces the affects of the atom bomb.
